During the manufacture of self adhesive tapes, the PVC strip is passed through a bath of adhesive and the excess needs to be wiped off before continuing on to the next process. Compressed air produced a satisfactory result but was expensive to run.

Air knives are placed on top and underneath the pvc strip to remove the excess adhesive. These can be adjusted to produce the required adhesive thickness.
