NEW COMPRESSED AIR CONTROL UNIT CUTS ENERGY
COSTS BY UP TO 80%
Process drying specialist Secomak has developed
a new intelligent ‘supply
on demand’ control unit for use with compressed air systems.
The Airminder device, ideal for applications such as bottle
and can drying, ensures compressed air is only used when a
product
is present on the conveyor line. It reduces unnecessary costs
and saves energy by up to 80%, depending on the application.
The Airminder uses pre-programmable micro-electronics to cut
the use of compressed air. It limits wastage at the point of
use using a sensor, which detects when a conveyor line is stationary
or there are gaps between the objects on a line. When these conditions
are detected the air supply is cut off for a pre-determined time.
When it senses movement again the supply is restored immediately.
The system has a manual over-ride in addition to automatic switch-off
ability in the event of human error. Additional benefits include
reduced noise levels and, in some installations, avoiding the
need to acquire a larger compressor to deal with demand.
An Aquaminder version is also available which
will offer identical functions to provide water on a ‘supply on demand’ basis
for rinsing applications.
