HAND-HELD AIR KNIVES FOR INACCESSIBLE AREAS

A new series of hand-held air knives and air cannons has been launched by air movement specialist Secomak. Ideal for spot-drying and cleaning swarf out from inaccessible areas, they produce a stream of high velocity air which strips away all water and dirt, leaving all surfaces clean and dry.

The hand-held units work on the same principle as Secomak's well established range of larger, fixed air knives and air cannons. Compressed air is supplied by a Secomak compact blower, which has low power consumption and operates at low noise levels.

The decision to use an air knife or air cannon depends on the application: air knives are ideal for stripping away liquids such as water or oil, physically atomising the liquid and leaving no trace on the surface. Applications include the removal of water from conveyors or cutting oil from extruded metal products. Air cannons are more suitable for blowing out swarf or dust from inaccessible areas in metal or wood cutting machinery.

Fixed versions of both units are also available. Mounted on an adjustable frame, they can be precisely positioned on a conveyor line and are ideal for applications such as drying bottle necks or food packaging.
