CLEANING A PEA GRADING SCREEN USING SIDE CHANNEL BLOWER WITH AIR KNIFE

Fisher Frozen Foods produce frozen vegetables for the major supermarket chains.
During the processing of peas, they have to be graded according to size and this is done by tumbling them in a large stainless steel drum. The holes vary in size, small at the inlet gradually getting larger down the length of the drum and the peas fall through as they reach their hole size and are collected in drums. Some peas lodge themselves in the holes and have to clear by a mechanical scraper. This wears and damages the drum which has to be repaired resulting in downtime, and is an expensive operation.

An air knife mounted on the outside of the drum clears the holes of “stuck” peas without damaging the stainless steel drum.
